Anyone else an avid fan of the ol' Fallout?
Got all the old generation ones on my PC, and the rest on't xbox.
Anyone else want to discuss the wonders of post-apocalyptia?

Re: Fallout Discussion Thread
I love Fallout with a passion
New Vegas was my most played game until that darned Skyrim took the title away.
Loved Fallout 1 and 2 as well..but I haven't played them in years and years

Re: Fallout Discussion Thread
I'm still playin' New Vegas, the DLC adds a bit more play time, but I'm struggling to find anything to do in the Mojave Wastes.
Did you ever play Fallout: Tactics? Was a spin-off created by some random geezers. It was squad-based action with the first real-time combat. I enjoyed it very much ^_^

Re: Fallout Discussion Thread
I have yet to play the DLC for NV. I'm waiting on the Ultimate edition, and I'll actually probably wait a few months after that comes out until I can get it for half price. I'm kind of a cheapskate like that
I remember playing Tactics a bit back in the day, but I only put maybe an hour into the game..so I can't really say I know much of anything about it

Re: Fallout Discussion Thread
I didn't play it for long, but it bested F1 for me, but not F2, Loved F2.
Because my xbox has broke I had to buy F:NV and all it's dlc off the marketplace, put me £50 out of pocket (Which is about $70-$80 USD, methinks). I still think it was totally worth it, but still a bit much.

Re: Fallout Discussion Thread
if you've never tried it, I suggest the Fallout 2 restoration project mod. It adds in just about everything that was cut from the retail release of F2.

Re: Fallout Discussion Thread
I'll bookmark it and d/l when I start playing the older games again, thanks :3
I remember seeing a mod that is currently in progress, on the NMA homepage. I'll try get it to you, it's a whole new story sort of thing.
EDIT: It was Mutants Rising, the demo has been recently released, if you're familiar with NMA then you should get what I'm saying here

Re: Fallout Discussion Thread
I'm actually not familiar with it, but I'll definitely look it up.
I don't really keep up with NMA too much since about 75% of the convos there boil down to "old fallout rules, new fallout sux" lol

pfft, did it with a .45 auto submachine gun
@bob, I followed NMA for a while just to get all the info on the Bethesda .vs. Interplay stuff, now that that's all over I'm rarely on there. A lot of the more... veteran members of the official fallout forums seem to thing old fallout > new fallout. IMO, I think they're equal in fun, but the RPG aspect has to go to the older games.

Re: Fallout Discussion Thread
Agreed. All the games are a blast to play. That's the important part for me. The old games were far better on the RPG stuff, but the new ones are just so immersive. In my opinion the old isometric view pulls you out of the experience a bit. All great games in any caseRoobix wrote:veteran members of the official fallout forums seem to thing old fallout > new fallout. It was the turn-based combat that unsettled me, it just didn't feel right. And you had to have a super high Agility level, otherwise combat would be absolutely impossible. The S.P.E.C.I.A.L in F1 & F2 was very sensitive compared to what it is now, but many people complain that Strength doesn't matter anymore.

Re: Fallout Discussion Thread
The old games definitely had a bit more of a learning curve to them. I remember the first time I played it..a looooooong time ago , I had put points in everything I shouldn't have at the start and it was just a chore to play.
The newer ones are pretty accessible though. Some builds will turn out better than others, but you can still get by. To me that isn't a bad thing, opens the game up to more people.
And I always pump strength. I'm kind of a packrat and like to walk around the wasteland with 27 guns and 400 nuka colas in my back pocket
